Uncle Dan and the drums

Uncle Dan has been helping us unpack and move in, and he is the best person for that! Well, in the basement after hauling stuff in Uncle Dan found the drum set he got for Cade last year for Christmas. Cade was a little young then, but now, wow.... he's facinated. He put it together for him and I really think for himself. We're all placing bets on how long it will be before either Uncle Dan or Cade destroys it!

The toddler bed

Last week, we decided to get Cade a toddler bed, seeing he will be two next week and we will need the crib for the baby in the spring. What a challenge. First we just put him in his crib and he could scale that in 3 seconds! Out he would run screaming his head off every 2 hours at night. SOMETHING had to change, hence the toddler bed. At least he could get out and back in without falling. Poor guy had a big bump on his noodle from the escape attempt. Thanks to Sheri's advice we put a baby gate on the door since he can open the door himself. The first night he'd wake up screaming every 4 hours or so, but we let him cry it out and he would finally go back to sleep. Those were long nights! Now we're at a week and he wakes maybe once and is sleeping to 7 or 7:30! What a relief! Mommy and daddy are getting a lot happier now that we're getting more sleep. I still have to sit with him so that he falls asleep, but I don't talk to him or look at him. I need to just start leaving him alone so he learns to fall asleep on his own, but its so hard!

The house

We purchased this house in June 2007. It was a trainwreck! The walls were never painted, the house was never cleaned, and it was totally disgusting. We totally redid the interior and exterior with new paint, new trim, carpeting, vinyl flooring, new doors, hardware, painted the cabinets and countertop in the kitchen, new vanities in the bathrooms, and a new shower in the master bath along with a new toilet and linen closet (both are in the works right now). We also put a new door in. The old one was like a sliding glass door but opened on one side like a regular door. Odd.. Now we have to fix the deck. Its constructed out of landscaping timbers and 2x4's. Classic.. Safe.. not really! It has no slats so I watch Cade like a hawk when he's out there. We are going to live in this one for a few years, then on to the next one. It has a full basement too, although its unfinished. We might get to that... we'll have to see where the funds are. It was quite expensive to just do cosmetic work! Oh well, its an adventure and hopefully it'll pay off in the end!

First blog

After reading Sheri's blog so many times I've decided to set up ours! To those that know me, this won't really matter, but for those that don't, my name is Tonya Olson, wife of Mark Olson. We live in the small town of Lovell, Wyoming near the Big Horn Mountains. We're originally from Powell, a town 20 miles away. We are flipping houses to try to save up for our dream house. We currently finished #1, which took 3 months. It was quite the adventure for sure! We have one son, Cade, who will be 2 next week. We have another one baking due to arrive in May. Life is pretty exciting for sure! I am a stay at home mom and wife, so I try to keep a clean house and child. Mark is a fence contractor working all around the state of Wyoming. He is quite busy with his own business which is now 5 years old and counting! We have two dogs, which are really a big pain in the toosh.. a beagle who is 8 and a yellow lab who is 5. They are fun, but they can be annoying all at the same time! So, that's about it. Now, I just have to remember to post!
